How Learning Works at CCA
At Charity Christian Academy, learning is built around each student’s unique needs, interests, and God-given purpose. Our approach is centered on three key ideas—Needs, Wants, and Dreams—guiding students to master essential skills, explore their interests, and begin pursuing their future with confidence.
Needs (Foundations)
Needs are the essential academic foundations every student must master. These include core subjects such as Bible, reading, writing, math, science, and history. At Charity Christian Academy, students build strong skills in these areas so they are prepared for higher-level learning, confident in their abilities, and equipped for life.
At CCA, students learn through a mastery-based approach, meaning they fully understand a concept before moving on. Instead of rushing through material, students progress at their own pace, strengthening areas of difficulty and building confidence along the way. This ensures a solid foundation and long-term success, rather than gaps in learning.
Examples of needs:
- Bible
- Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- History
- Logic
- Art/Music
- Life Skills
Wants (Exploration)
Wants are where students begin to explore their interests, talents, and curiosities. This stage allows students to discover what they enjoy and where their strengths may lie. By giving students the opportunity to explore, learning becomes more engaging, meaningful, and connected to who they are.
Electives and exploration courses give students the freedom to try new things and develop their interests. These may include areas such as art, music, robotics, creative writing, technology, and more. Through these opportunities, students build skills, gain confidence, and begin to identify the passions that may shape their future learning and direction.
Examples of wants:
- robotics
- art
- music
- creative writing
- aviation
- entrepreneurship
- animals
- technology
Dreams (Purpose)
Dreams are where students begin to pursue their God-given purpose. As students grow, they start connecting their interests and strengths to real goals for their future. This stage moves beyond exploration and focuses on intentional learning that prepares students for life, career, and calling.
In high school, students pursue their dreams through customized learning paths. These pathways provide direction and real-world experience, allowing students to apply what they have learned in meaningful ways. Whether through apprenticeships, entrepreneurship, dual credit, work study, or special interests, students begin taking practical steps toward their future while continuing to build strong academic foundations.
Examples of dreams:
- private pilot ground school
- robotics engineering
- perfume chemistry business
- ministry training
- business startups
- classic car restoration
